Club Membership Fees 2023-2024

Club membership fees for 2023-2024 are due on the 1st April 2023. The fees this year are:

· 1st Claim membership – £31. This includes £14 Danum Harriers Running club membership, plus £17 England Athletics (EA) membership. The Committee made the decision to freeze the Danum Harriers Running club fee for 2023/2024.

· 2nd Claim membership (where your 1st claim is with another running club) – £14.

Please can you transfer your payment to our usual bank account (contact Amanda Lane or Jo Derx for details if you do not already have them).

In the reference field please can you state ‘Fees & <Your Name>’. This ensures that we can relate each payment to the person transferring the money.

Contact & medical detail changes
A lot can happen in a year so if you’ve changed your address, mobile number, etc. please can you email the Club Secretary, Amanda Lane, at secretary@danumharriers.co.uk with any changes. Please can you also logon to your EA portal and update the details on your EA profile.

If your medical conditions have changed, please can you logon to the EA portal and update your EA profile.

It would help us greatly if you could pay your club fees by the 1st April. We continue to carry out the membership registration ourselves rather than outsourcing it to a third party. This means that we don’t pass those costs onto you in the membership fee but it does mean that there’s a great deal of time and effort involved in the membership renewal process. We are aiming to get everyone registered with the EA in the first week of April.

We’re looking forward to welcoming you to another great year of running with Danum Harriers.

Best wishes
DHRC Committee

This week’s sessions (w/c 13th Mar)

Hi all, forms for the forthcoming week are up! Please remember to put your name down if you’re coming.

Jo will lead a social on Tuesday.
Alternatively, the interval set will be a mixed fartlek session from the Rail College consisting of:

15 * (90 seconds, off 90 seconds) – Everyone

~3-5 min complete rest. G4/5 option to leave at this point.

5 * (60 seconds, off 60 seconds) – G1-3 (optional for G4/5)

Thursday’s route is R11R.

See you in the week!

This week’s sessions (w/c 6th Mar)

Hi all, forms for next week are up! Please remember to fill out your name if you’re coming to any of the sessions.

Tuesday’s social run will be with Amanda and Julie, around 6.5 miles on tarmac at ~10m/m.

The marathon plan has relaxed fartlek around RC perimeter pencilled into it, but having given that some thought, I’m changing it to something out of the club library:

1234321 with 1/2 rests (e.g 1 min on, 30 sec off, 2 min on, 1 min off, 3 mins on, 90 secs off and so on).

For those who are racing and also in marathon training, I would consider whether you will be rested enough for the interval set and should instead switch to the social.

Thursday’s route is R10R.

Good luck to everyone who’s racing Sunday morning!

See you there or in the week.

Rother Valley Relays, Thursday 11th May 2023 @ 18:30

Jim would like a show of hands from those of you who may be interested in racing this? We imagine it’ll be similar to Dam Flask, but with two twists:

  1. We can have mixed sex teams.
  2. There isn’t that ruddy big hill. 😅

How many in a team?

  • 4 – Male Senior, MV40 and MV50
  • 4 – Mixed ( 2 males 2 females)
  • 3 – Female senior, FV35, FV45, FV55, MV60

What are the categories?

  • Male senior (18+), MV40, MV50, MV60
  • Female senior, FV35, FV45, FV55
  • Mixed Bag (2 male, 2 female)

If you’re interested, can you please let Jim know ASAP with:

  1. Single sex
  2. Mixed team

If we get enough interested parties we can then match make and enter a bunch of teams. So this will rely on club participation (you!)

It’d be nice to get a big turnout to this (even though it does clash with a club night!)

This week’s sessions (w/c 27th Feb)

Hi all, forms for next week are up. Please put your name down if you’re coming!

On Tuesday Mick is taking the social again (he says it’s between 6 and 6 1/2 miles – any issues take it up with him!), and the Rail College session is 20 x (1 min, off 1 min), at ~5K pace (marginally quicker for quicker groups.)

Thursday’s route is R9R.

Amy’s testing out a potential new parkrun route on Saturday morning, which you’re all invited to – see the details on Facebook here

Hopefully see you next week!
