Membership Fees Due

The 2022 Danum Harriers membership fee is due on the 1st April 2022 and is £14, plus the EA membership fee, which is £16. Therefore all members are required to pay £30 as soon as possible please.

Membership is payable by bank transfer directly into the clubs bank account. You put your name in the ‘Reference’ field so we can relate each payment received to the person transferring the money. If you don’t know the club’s bank details speak to a committee member who will be able to help you.

If any of your contact details have changed, for example your address, telephone numbers, emergency contact details or e-mail address please let us know by e-mailing dh***************@****co.uk

To those new members who joined from January 2022 you do not need to pay again.

Finally, for anyone who is a second claim member you only need to pay £14 as the EA membership fee will be collected by your first claim club.

Any questions please do not hesitate to Caroline directly.

If any of your details have changed can you please let her know asap and also update your details on your individual runners portal.

2022 Road League announced!

We have had confirmation that the South Yorkshire Road League is making a return for 2022. You can always find up to date information on this page here.

These are great Club only races for all abilities and it would be great to flood them with blue and yellow!

There are 4 x 5 mile races and they are all held on Wednesday evenings from 6 and 7 pm on the following dates:-

March 30th – 3 Merry Lads, Lodge Moor, Sheffield

6th April – tbc

20th April – tbc

25th May – tbc

The best part is the price – £10 for all 4 races so even if you can only make a couple, still cheap as chips!

We have been given a limited number but can get more if we respond quickly. It is a quick turnaround for entries so please let Mick know ASAP if you would like to take part. Hope to see lots of you there!

N.B – You need to be a 1st claim Harrier and must wear clubs colours (no training tops or cotton Harriers shirts!)

2022 AGM Announced!

This years AGM is NOT virtual! No logging on or raising a glass to the PC or TV to celebrate your fellow Harriers!

Note the date in your diaries – 8th April 2022 at Wheatley Golf Club

Free to attend:
Award ceremony & Club updates to kick the evening off – All members are invited to attend/participate. (Winners of awards do not know who they are btw…could be YOU, get your nominations over to Adi ASAP!)

This part of the evening will include the annual club committee elections which will consist of all committee members resigning their seats and either re-standing or stepping down completely and giving somebody else a chance whatever is their wish.
This means that ALL positions are open for anybody to put themselves forward for election if they so wish. And if this happens it will go to a members vote and/or a show of hands on the night.

Current positions and future vacancies
Michael Plant – Mens VC (not for election, constitutional amendment)
Jo Derx – Treasurer and ladies VC (re-standing as Treasurer. VC role as above)
Mark Bower – Media Officer and welfare officer (re-standing)
Caroline Greening – Club Secretary and welfare officer (vacating position)
Lynn Hutchinson – Ladies captain (re-standing)
James Holloway – Mens Captain (re-standing)
Adi Tuplin – Chairman (re-standing)

This obviously means we will have a vacant position for DH Club Secretary to fill for 2022.

Any candidates for any of the above positions must let Adi or any of the committee members know and please write a brief resume of why they would wish to be considered.

Optional £20 per person:
If you wish to stay on after the Awards and Club updates are done there is a 2 Course sit down meal followed by a quiz, raffle and general all round good fun.
Bar open until midnight and for those of you who want to carry it over into town (Someone else can look after your trophy) its only a short ride away!
Let someone on the Committee know if you are interested as we are looking for numbers for the venue.
Cash collection will follow

2021 Award Nominations Needed!

OK so it might not be quite the Olympics but we do have a few trophies up for grabs all the same soon at the next upcoming AGM + Awards evening (early April, date tbc) ??????

So folks it’d be hugely appreciated if you could send your nominations in to Adi for the following :-

?DHRC Runner of the year – male and female.
?DHRC Harrier of the year – 1 award only.

The criteria for ROTY is simply for the runner/s (M & F) who you think have had the best year running wise – (Jan to Dec 2021). This can be success as in trophies, etc or success as in their own personal journey, your choice ?.

The criteria for HOTY is same as the monthly award and can be for anybody who has gone the extra mile for club and/or colleagues in 2021, basically the person who’s displayed the most Harrierness in your opinion!

So to round up it’s 1x Harrier of the year nomination, and 1x each male and female Runner of the year nominations please.

Please, please do nominate guys – even if you’re not 100% I’m sure there’s somebody who’s made you raise your eyebrows and give them a slight tip of the hat at some point in the last year ?.

Please also give a brief description for your choice as well, it’ll help us when compiling candidates and making final choices.

Let Adi know your choices as soon as you can – you can email him at ch******@**************co.uk

We also have to say well done to everyone else that took part in this year’s Champs and next year’s schedule is already up for you to start planning those races!

That’s all for now folks, see you down at the club on a Tuesday/Thursday!
