TCS London Marathon 2023 Club Place(s) Draw

If you entered the TCS London Marathon 2023 and were unsuccessful here’s how to enter the Club Places Draw.

The eligibility criteria for the TCS London Marathon 2023 Club Place(s) Draw are as follows:

1. You must have entered the TCS London Marathon as a first claim Harrier and have a rejection email. The rejection email must be provided as evidence of entry.

2. You must run the TCS London Marathon as a first claim Harrier and pay next year’s subs up front (applies to reserves too) and have been a Harrier for the past 12 months.

3. You must NOT have run the London marathon within the last five years.

4. You must be able to run the TCS London Marathon on Sunday 23rd April 2023 so check that you do not have any other commitments, and that you are injury free to be able to train for the race. Any deferrals reduce the number of places that the club is issued for the 2024 London marathon.

If you successfully obtain a place through the club draw, you must complete and pay your entry fee by 16:00 on Tuesday 20th December (there are no extensions to this deadline under any circumstances).

The deadline for submitting your entry to the Club draw is 16:00 on Tuesday 15th November.

The Club Secretary will co-ordinate the Club draw and the Chair will make the draw. The draw will be made on Saturday 3rd December at the Club’s 10th anniversary celebrations, as part of the AGM.

If you are successful in the draw, you will be representing the Danum Harriers Running Club at one of the World’s Major Marathons, which is both a privilege and an honour.

Note: We are hoping to be allocated two club places and will receive confirmation by the end of November.

If you are eligible to enter the Club draw, then private message Amanda Lane or email secretary@danumharriers.co.uk along with your name and a copy of your rejection email as evidence.

AGM and Awards Meeting

Dear Harriers, it’s the Club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), Awards Evening and 10th Anniversary Party at The Dome on Saturday 3rd December. More information on the timings to follow in the coming weeks.

The AGM is free to attend and is open to all club members, and it takes place prior to the 10th Anniversary celebrations section.

As part of the AGM, the Committee steps down and Club members vote them back in.

Club committee elections – any member can put themselves forward for any of the posts up to the deadline. Please note: All current members of the Committee have agreed to be reappointed to their current roles. If you wish to put yourself forward for election to a committee role, please read the committee job descriptions and submit your application to the Chair.

Questions for the AGM – there is an open discussion scheduled on the agenda but the committee need your questions in advance, either by private message to Lynn Hutchinson or email: chair@danumharriers.co.uk

The deadline for the ‘Club Committee elections’ and’ Questions for the AGM’ is 16:00 on Tuesday 15th November.

2022 Award Nominations

At the AGM, during the awards section of the evening, we’ll be presenting the Parkrun Tourist Trophies and Club Championship Trophies – 12 trophies in total. This will culminate with the awards for Runner of the Year (Female) and Runner of the Year (Male), and Harrier of the Year. This is where we ask you for your nominations.

The criteria are as follows:
Runner of the Year (ROTY) – a trophy awarded to the Male and Female ROTY. In your opinion which male and female runner you think have had the best year running – (2021/2022). This can be success as in trophies, personal bests, success as in their own personal running journey, or the most improvement in their running.

Harrier of the Year (HOTY) – one trophy awarded to the person (female or male) who you feel is representative of the Club. They may have gone that extra mile for the club, fellow club runners or the running community.

To help you make your choices it might be worth reading some of the “This Month’s Mentions” in the previous DH newsletters (these are all available from the DH website in the members’ only area).

You can make your nominations online. Here you’ll be able to name your nominee(s) and importantly your reason why, as it’s great for the recipient to know why their fellow club members have voted for them. By the way all nominations are confidential.

The closing date for nominations is 16:00 on Tuesday 15th November so please get nominating.
