2022 AGM Announced!

This years AGM is NOT virtual! No logging on or raising a glass to the PC or TV to celebrate your fellow Harriers!

Note the date in your diaries – 8th April 2022 at Wheatley Golf Club

Free to attend:
Award ceremony & Club updates to kick the evening off – All members are invited to attend/participate. (Winners of awards do not know who they are btw…could be YOU, get your nominations over to Adi ASAP!)

This part of the evening will include the annual club committee elections which will consist of all committee members resigning their seats and either re-standing or stepping down completely and giving somebody else a chance whatever is their wish.
This means that ALL positions are open for anybody to put themselves forward for election if they so wish. And if this happens it will go to a members vote and/or a show of hands on the night.

Current positions and future vacancies
Michael Plant – Mens VC (not for election, constitutional amendment)
Jo Derx – Treasurer and ladies VC (re-standing as Treasurer. VC role as above)
Mark Bower – Media Officer and welfare officer (re-standing)
Caroline Greening – Club Secretary and welfare officer (vacating position)
Lynn Hutchinson – Ladies captain (re-standing)
James Holloway – Mens Captain (re-standing)
Adi Tuplin – Chairman (re-standing)

This obviously means we will have a vacant position for DH Club Secretary to fill for 2022.

Any candidates for any of the above positions must let Adi or any of the committee members know and please write a brief resume of why they would wish to be considered.

Optional £20 per person:
If you wish to stay on after the Awards and Club updates are done there is a 2 Course sit down meal followed by a quiz, raffle and general all round good fun.
Bar open until midnight and for those of you who want to carry it over into town (Someone else can look after your trophy) its only a short ride away!
Let someone on the Committee know if you are interested as we are looking for numbers for the venue.
Cash collection will follow

Sherwood Pines Ultra, January 2022 – Craig Burton

Going into this race wasn’t sure what to expect 6 hours to run as far as possible seems fun yet daunting.

Got up early as usual kit all sorted Katie got kids ready and packed the car and off we went weather was pretty good after the cold ice we had days before.

Met a few of my friends from other running clubs and after race brief and hugs and good lucks I set off.

Steady pace to get a feel for the route which turned out to be pretty flat apart from two slight hills which turned out to be mountains towards the end ?

It was good as after every 3.5mile loop I got to see the family and fill my boots at the aid station.

I got to lap 9 passing and chatting to various people on route but I could feel the groin giving me a little problem so thought once back into the aid station I’ll call it a day ??

As I hit the aid station my friend said to me come on we have 45 min another loop we got this so I topped up the tailwind took some painkillers and off we went for one final loop I was now running the downs and walking the hills but finally made it back 34 mile later to the families relief as they were looking ready for home ?

All in all a great day out well organised and easy to follow great volunteers and such a fun race to be part of great to be representing the harriers ??

2021 Award Nominations Needed!

OK so it might not be quite the Olympics but we do have a few trophies up for grabs all the same soon at the next upcoming AGM + Awards evening (early April, date tbc) ??????

So folks it’d be hugely appreciated if you could send your nominations in to Adi for the following :-

?DHRC Runner of the year – male and female.
?DHRC Harrier of the year – 1 award only.

The criteria for ROTY is simply for the runner/s (M & F) who you think have had the best year running wise – (Jan to Dec 2021). This can be success as in trophies, etc or success as in their own personal journey, your choice ?.

The criteria for HOTY is same as the monthly award and can be for anybody who has gone the extra mile for club and/or colleagues in 2021, basically the person who’s displayed the most Harrierness in your opinion!

So to round up it’s 1x Harrier of the year nomination, and 1x each male and female Runner of the year nominations please.

Please, please do nominate guys – even if you’re not 100% I’m sure there’s somebody who’s made you raise your eyebrows and give them a slight tip of the hat at some point in the last year ?.

Please also give a brief description for your choice as well, it’ll help us when compiling candidates and making final choices.

Let Adi know your choices as soon as you can – you can email him at chairman@danumharriers.co.uk

Watch the 2021 Review on Youtube

Well, all in all 2020 was a bit of a write off when it came to events. However when races and events started appearing back on the Calendar in 2021 we showed that we were ready to answer the call!

Therefore in time honoured fashion we have created a brief roundup of 2021 for you all. Hopefully everyone appears somewhere on a picture, but if you don’t all we can say is get your cameras out next year or pull a stupid face when you see someone with one! (Plus there’s only so much we can fit into a short video ?).
